The World's Greatest Treasure Hunt™

The Treasure

Having traveled to most of the major world museums such as The Guggenheim in New York, The Rijksmuseum in The Netherlands, The Hermitage Museum in Russia and the Louvre in Paris, The World's Greatest Treasure Hunt™ founder Ron Shore aspired to create a treasure from the Old World involving the craftsmanship of The Faberge Eggs along with something that would elicit the mystery and intrigue from movies like The Maltese Falcon or National Treasure. He wanted the treasure to speak of power and majesty, pride and honor – the eagle was a clear choice.

Ron searched for a sculptor for almost 2 years before discovering Kevin Peters, who's done a number of works for major movie stars and major corporations. After talking to Kevin and learning of his experience, Ron was confident in charging him with creating the centerpiece for the treasure hunt. It took almost 5 months and a number of revisions before they found exactly what they were looking for.  It has taken hundreds of hours to create the fine detailing required to create this old world treasure for a new world cause.

The Golden Eagle

The grand prize of The World's Greatest Treasure Hunt™ is a Golden Eagle which is valued at more than $1 million US dollars. It is solid gold with 1.1ct pear shaped diamond eyes and 763 diamonds covering its head. It is standing watch over the 400 year old "Atocha Star" emerald, weighing in at 12.73 karats. This is the largest cut emerald from the Atocha, a Spanish Galleon which sank in 1622.  The Atocha Star was originally more than 25 carats before it was cut. Mel Fisher's Treasures of Key West Florida donated the largest portion of this emerald to help us raise funds for cancer research.  The Golden Eagle will weigh 18 pounds of 10k, 14kt and 18kt gold.  The Eagle itself is one of the ten largest solid gold statues created in the last 500 years.  It has taken artisans and craftsman hundreds of hours to create this one of a kind treasure. The Cause

Hunt for the Cause Foundation

The World's Greatest Treasure Hunt™ directly benefits the Hunt for the Cause Foundation, which seeks to raise funds for research for the prevention, early detection and cure for breast cancer. The foundation will target funds raised towards scientists which specialize in these areas. For example, recently scientists have discovered specific protein markers given off by breast cancer cells before it is even a tumor. These proteins can be detected in saliva. It is believed that within the next few years, a simple saliva test can help detect breast cancer at its earliest stages and give women a much greater chance of surviving this disease.

The goal of The World's Greatest Treasure Hunt™ is to raise 100 million dollars for breast cancer research. In order to do this, the hunt aims to raise between three and five million dollars from the sale of the treasure hunt book, and an additional five million in donations from those buying the book (as an additional option at point of purchase). Additionally, The World's Greatest Treasure Hunt™ committee will also be challenging corporations, foundations and individuals to match what it is able to raise. The goal is for 10 – 15 sponsors to match what the hunt is able to raise in order to reach the ultimate goal of raising 100 million dollars. Every corporation, foundation or individual who matches the proceeds raised will be offered an opportunity to sit on the board of the Hunt for the Cause Foundation and help guide the most effective use of the proceeds.
